Find the Perfect Indoor Air Mattress...

An indoor mattress is generally all about giving your guests our yourself the same comforts of sleeping on a real bed while you are temporarily on the air mattress. Because of this the biggest consideration is generally quality/comfort. There are a wide-range of prices, but in general you will find the slightly higher priced mattresses are also more comfortable.

If you are looking for a quick reference of the top air mattresses that we recommend, please click here for our top 5 guides. Otherwise, here are the major considerations when choosing an indoor mattress:

Quality/Comfort
The quality of an air mattress can be judged in many ways, but it is generally based on comfort. An air mattress is sought to replace a real bed so the closer that it feels like a real bed, the better.
  • The ratings we have below are from customers you have used these mattresses for overnight sleeping and can testify to their comfort. Be sure to use the ratings!
  • A key quality/comfort aspect for indoor air mattresses is if the air mattress is raised. An air mattress can either be raised via a frame or by additional air. You will find that these mattresses come with a bigger price tag - but again, they will make you or your guest feel like you are sleeping on a real bed.
  • Some indoor mattresses have soft or pillow tops built into them as well - just like a real bed. Check this feature out as well if you like this for additional comfort.

Size
Size is not just about twin or queen. Here are a few other questions to think through when choosing the best size:
  • Will the bed only be used by one person? If multiple people are going to be sharing the bed then you will want to purchase at least a queen size bed and also consider a raised bed that will ensure that your guests do not sink to the floor.
  • Depending on the size of your apartment or house, will the air mattress fit where you would like to sleep or have your guest stay over-night? Look at the dimensions of the bed prior to purchasing and make sure it will fit on the ground once it is blown up.
  • How big is the air mattress when it is deflated? Will you have room to store it? If you do not have much closet space, you might want to shy away from the raised air mattresses as they take up considerably more space when deflated.

Features
Every brand of air-mattress has their own 'features,' but overall you need to think about the following:
  • How will you inflate your mattress (does it have a pump included)? Built in pumps also make it easier for guests to adjust the amount of air in the mattress in the middle of their sleep.
  • Does the pump have a remote for added convenience of getting the right amount of air in the mattress?
  • As mentioned previously, consider the advantage of a raised mattress! If you inflate a raised mattress prior to your guests arrival and make the bed up with nice linens and pillows, your guests might not even notice they are sleeping on an air mattress!
Most indoor mattresses will be used by guests which means its all the more important that they are comfortable. You don't want your guests to be grumpy in the morning!

Most indoor air mattresses are now raised. Raised air mattresses are about twice as thick as traditional air mattresses and are not only more comfortable but also feel more like a real bed due to the height. Other features that you will find in these mattresses include soft tops or even pillow tops along with remote controlled air controls so that your guest can fill the air mattress to their desire.

Our grandkids sleep on these and they (AeroBed) have proven to be reliable, comfortable, and sturdy."

"I use this bed for company all the time and I have taken this bed camping a number of times. My favorite part of the bed is how easy it is to pack up, also love the extra light on the pump. I am a reader and I love being able to kick back and read a good book no matter where I am."

"This bed is great. It keeps air, firm, and I put a egg-crate cushion on top of it to make it even better. I have to re-pump the air a tiny bit every 2-3 days but it takes like 10 seconds. It can definitely hold its air for a night though."

"I originally bought this bed as a "quick fix" as I was moving into a new apartment. After the first few nights of using it, I was impressed enough to delay my plans to purchase a real bed."

"I had a friend who used this air bed over the summer at another friend's house and it was great. It was very easy to use and it did not have any of the inflation problems that occur with other airbeds. The friend who used it also has the Aero bed and said that it was comparable to it."
